On a Grecian Urn
“On a Grecian Urn” investigates classical forms as a way of asking whether those forms (and by extension Greco Roman or classical culture) have any relevance left. Is the classical canon of any value, or is referencing it fundamentally a conservative gesture? Now that classical forms could easily be reproduced via slip-casting, 3D printing, etc., is there any point in making them anew by hand? Or are they simply a dead form?
